What an incredible day at the Managing the Pressure event, looking into how we can reduce the risk to improve the outcomes. We came away inspired, better informed, and genuinely excited about the future of cardiovascular care in the NHS and beyond.
From the outset, the agenda delivered, bringing together clinicians, commissioners, and health tech innovators to explore how we can finally turn the NHS 10-Year Plan into reality:
Every session offered real-world insights into improving hypertension management at scale. Hearing from leaders like Helen Williams (National Clinical Director for CVD Prevention, NHS England) and Dr Matt Kearney (CVDACTION, UCL Partners) was both energising and thought-provoking.
A standout moment for us was the presentation from our client Lifelight.
Their world-first, medically certified smartphone app for blood pressure measurement is genuinely game-changing. No cuff. No calibration. No extra hardware, just your phone. In under a minute, it delivers a BP reading using cutting-edge AI and remote photoplethysmography.
Even better, we got to try it out on the day. It was quick, effortless, and surprisingly fun to see the blood pressure results appear on screen without any wires or devices. It’s the kind of user-friendly innovation that could dramatically expand access to hypertension monitoring, ease clinic pressures and empower people to take charge of their heart health.
We left convinced that solutions like Lifelight are exactly what the NHS needs to deliver scalable, preventative care and free up clinical time. Seeing it in action gave us real confidence that digital health is ready to move from pilot projects to everyday practice.
The event overall was brilliantly organised, a great mix of visionary talks, live demos, and open discussion. It was refreshing to connect with so many people who share the goal of reducing cardiovascular risk and improving patient outcomes.
Huge thanks to Lifelight, the organisers and all the innovators who shared their work.
